Caring for your own anxiety and building resilience as white folks are two critical pieces of staying in anti-racism work for life. Anxiety can be an opt-out button for white folks, a reason for you not to do this work. Anti-racism can be an avenue for deeply healing your anxiety and trauma, and more deeply grounding your anxiety while doing this work can reduce harm to People of Color. This Deep Dive explores the critical topic of caring for your trauma and anxiety while doing anti-racism work and building connection with People of Color. We will build strategies for resilience for life-long social change.
Questions we may explore:
1. How are touch and connection critical pieces of resilience?
2. What do you feel in your body when you feel anxiety? What do you feel in your body when your anxiety is released?
3. How do you ground yourself when conflict comes up around racism?
4. Where do you go to get connection around your experiences of racism?
5. How do you track your capacity for this work?
A deep dive has a maximum of eight participants with a minimum of two individuals. This event is about connecting and building bonds that dismantle racism. Sliding scale for the event from $250 to $650. Please contact holisticresistanceinfo@gmail.com.(mailto:holisticresistanceinfo@gmail.com?subject=Portland Anxiety Deep Dive )
Build the wisdom of Holistic Resistance into your anti-racism work in your community. This Deep Dive is for people who have already attended Holistic Resistance workshops and Deep Dives and are wanting a taster of our 6-month Facilitator/Ally Leadership Program. This Deep Dive is all about crafting questions. Have you wondered how we come up with our questions and our longer story questions? Dig into your own experience of undoing racism to create your own content for facilitation. Build the habit of asking better questions of the racist events you see happening around you. Build community and connection around asking and answering questions, and holding your community’s answers. Learn to use questions to help your community grow around their anti-racism.

Deep Dive for POC/POGM (People of the Global Majority) Description: This deep dive is built around people of color coming together as a disruption of the chronic patterns of scarcity and hurt we have when reaching for each other. For example, colorism and economics have historically been effective barriers that people of color often have to navigate in order to be close to each other. We want to be clear that we are committed to holding space for people of color who are white passing, and at the same time hold the complexity that comes up for folks with darker skin. In this deep dive, we want to track and hold the ways in which we’ve all been hurt. We will reach for each other through deep listening, questions, and music to remind us, as a mixed POC group, that these barriers can be dismantled. We deeply desire to live in a world where we can receive all of the support that we need within our own communities. This deep dive will center Blackness as a powerful model within white supremacy culture. By acknowledging how black people have been hurt, we also recognize how white supremacy has hurt all of us and pits us against each other. We believe that reaching for each other and building relationships is one of the most holistic resistant actions we can take and will be one of the most challenging things we will do in this work. Finding the courage to simply show up is a major disruption to systems of oppression. We are excited to begin this deep reach with you.
Access Note: Holistic Resistance is committed at every opportunity to offer resource to people of color without cost. We invite white people to support through reparations and donations to care for and meet the needs of our facilitators.

Touching Blackness: The Trauma Story Around Touching Black Bodies & the Chronically Under-Touched
What is the lasting impact today? Reaching for Blackness is about hearing our stories, feeling the story in our skin, in our voices, and in our tears. It is also about you. What experiences around touch do you bring to the room? Of black bodies? Of messing up or feeling awkward? The purpose of a deep dive is to start a conversation that continues for a lifetime. We invite you to begin here.
We have taken on the important conversation of building conversation and strategies to support young Black people and create an understanding of how they’ve been hurt around being chronically under-touched. We are specifically talking about caring touch from family or friends. While many different people hold stories of feeling under-touched in our culture, we are focused on the effects of how oppression and being marked as untouchable by society has had a direct impact on Black men, and how that ripples out to affect all of us.
Questions we may explore:
1. What is the result of touch on the nervous system?
2. How is chronic undertouch a strategy of systemic oppression in jails and prisons and other institutions?
3. How are Black women affected by touch in our culture?
4. What are the effects of chronic undertouch on the wellness of Black men?
5. How does chronic undertouch relate to harm towards women, trans people, and queer people?
6. Are your own touch needs met? How does that impact you and others?
7. How can we disrupt with care the ways white supremacy has taught us to not connect through touch?

This workshop is for white-identified folks to dive deeply and courageously into exploring topics of racism, oppression, and privilege through active listening, sharing and connection.
One of only THREE public workshops we are doing in the Pacific Northwest this round! The other ones are in Chimacum and Tacoma. If you are new to Holistic Resistance work and want an intro to how we work through closeness and questions to undo racism, this is a great workshop to start with!
